E.ON – F.OFF! - Action days

In Finland concerned citizens took part in the E.ON-F.OFF action weekend by hanging a banner near the Helsinki offices of E.ON and Fennovoima. The banner stated a math equation of dirty energy: FENNOVOIMA=E.ON x NUCLEAR + COAL = CLIMATE CHAOS

While E.ON is busy with coal power in rest of Europe, in Finland it wants to build a nuclear power plant. It is the largest single
shareholder of Fennovoima energy company which advertises nuclear power as a solution to climate change. Most Finnish people are against new nuclear power plants, but it seems that the politicians want to make Finland a playground for nuclear industry: there are also plans for several uranium mines and a waste depository. Both coal and nuclear power are dying forms of energy production that belong to the past.

In Britain, more than 50 people were arrested as security fences were breached
by 1,000 climate activists who had converged on the coal power station in Ratcliffe-on-Soar. There were also several actions in Germany.

E.ON is Germany's biggest electricity supplier and also its biggest carbon emission producer. E.ON is also involved in half of Germany's nuclear plants. E.ON
invests in new coal plants internationally, besides Germany also in the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium. In the UK, E.ON is openly lobbying against renewables and wind power. Coal is the biggest carbon producer and climate killer of all energy forms, so this is completely irresponsible!

Recently, an E.ON coal plant in the German town Datteln was stopped by a court. Half of the plant was already built.
