There has been nuclear energy production in Finland since the year 1977. The current extraordinarily nuclear-friendly athmosphere is an ideal environment for the nuclear industry's plans for comeback. The Olkiluoto 3 -reactor currently under construction is the first new project in Europe in ten years.
Several other countries in Europe, and also other parts of the world, are following the finnish situation with great interest, planning their decisions regarding building more nuclear power. Finland is at the moment at the center of nuclear industry's activities. And so too is the antinuclear movement here facing it's biggest challenge.
